The educational institutions we serve encompass colleges, universities and independent schools. These institutions must now operate their defined contribution retirement plans – 403(b), 401(a), etc. – in an environment characterized by heightened fiduciary scrutiny. FIA, acting as independent investment advisor and co-fiduciary, draws from its twenty years of serving defined contribution sponsors to assist these institutions in navigating their fiduciary obligations.

Educational retirement plan sponsors typically engage FIA to consult on a full retainer basis. Educating an institution’s designated fiduciaries on the current defined contribution landscape as well as best practices in meeting their roles and responsibilities plays a significant role in our process. Moreover, our educational clients rely on the advice we provide regarding committee formation and charter development, investment policy construction, fund menu design, fund selection, performance monitoring, and strategies for effectively communicating with and educating their employee populations.
