The FIA team believes strongly in community involvement and we take pride in being a member of the greater Hartford community. Our strong culture of service and our desire to make a meaningful impact is at the heart of all our community involvement initiatives. Team members are active on the boards of numerous local, non-profit organizations. As a team, led by the FIA Community Service Committee, we have organized and sponsored charity golf tournaments and raised money for and volunteered with local charities. We have assisted the Chrysalis Center in Hartford, CT with their holiday party, serving lunch and distributing gifts, as well as painting rooms at the Wheeler Clinic in Plainville. We have raised over $165,000 for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center through participation in the Hartford Marathon since 2002.
In addition to our yearly volunteer commitments, the FIA Community Service Committee picks a nonprofit organization to focus on each quarter. Most recently, we have worked with:
On top of donations each quarter, our committee offers each organization a hands-on volunteer activity as well as a drive of their choice. Examples include conducting a hygiene drive for The Bridge Family Center, and a gently-used prom dress drive for Princess and the Prom. We began an ongoing food drive for Hands on Hartford in 2013, and have collected over 1,500 pounds of food and supplies for the organization. FIA is steadfastly committed not only to our clients, but to our community as a whole.
In 2018, FIA was proud to be nationally recognized by Schwab Advisor Services with the 2018 Best-in-Retirement Business IMPACT Award™. As part of this prestigious award, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc. made a $15,000 donation to the charities of our choice.
FIA selected $7,500 to go to YMCA of Greater Hartford and $7,500 to go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston.
Executive Vice President, Mike Goss, shares, “We are pleased to give back to these two non-profit clients, both of which have critical missions creating safe and caring environments for children and families, so that they can reach their full potential and go on to become responsible citizens and leaders. We value these organizations as clients and partners and believe their work to be necessary to the communities where our employees live and work.”
